VITCAS HRS Heat Resistant Sealant is a high-performance sealing and jointing compound designed to maintain a strong, durable bond in extreme temperatures up to 1,300°C (2,370°F). Its caulking-grade paste formulation makes it ideal for sealing and bonding metals, ceramics, glass, firebricks and other silica-based materials in both domestic and industrial applications.

Suitable for everything from stoves, fireplaces and ovens to kilns, furnaces and industrial equipment, VITCAS Heat Resistant Sealant offers excellent resistance to thermal cycling and thermal shock. Supplied for controlled application with a standard cartridge gun, it sets at room temperature and can be sanded and painted once fully cured.

Features & Benefits

Heat Resistant up to 1,300°C

Engineered to withstand temperatures up to 1,300°C (2,370°F), making it suitable for sealing joints and components exposed to extreme heat.

Strong High-Temperature Bond

Forms a robust bond across a wide variety of high-temperature materials, including metal, ceramics, glass and silica-based substrates.

Resistant to Thermal Cycling

Excellent resistance to repeated heating and cooling helps the sealant maintain its integrity where components are subjected to regular thermal expansion and contraction.

Caulking-Grade Formulation

The paste consistency provides accurate and controlled application using a cartridge gun, making it easier to apply an even bead into joints and gaps.

Suitable for Domestic & Industrial Applications

Suitable for high-temperature sealing around fireplaces, stoves and ovens, as well as demanding industrial applications including furnaces, kilns and thermal processing equipment.

Sandable & Paintable

Once completely cured, the sealant can be sanded and over-painted, allowing the finished installation to be neatly integrated with surrounding surfaces.

Certified Fire Performance

Certified to EN 45545-2:2020, meeting requirement sets R22 and R23 for hazard levels HL1, HL2 and HL3, making it suitable for specified applications requiring validated fire-performance characteristics.

Product Overview

VITCAS HRS Heat Resistant Sealant 1,300°C provides a versatile solution for sealing and jointing materials exposed to exceptionally high temperatures.

Its ability to bond to ceramics, metals, silica-based materials and glass makes it suitable for a broad range of applications. In domestic heating installations, it can be used around fireplaces, stoves and other suitable high-temperature areas. Industrial applications extend to kilns, furnaces, ovens, process equipment and thermal housings.

The sealant is particularly useful where joints experience repeated heating and cooling. Its resistance to thermal shock and thermal cycling helps minimise the risk of cracking or deterioration caused by changing temperatures.

For specialist applications, the sealant's EN 45545-2:2020 certification also makes it suitable for appropriately specified railway, transport and industrial installations requiring recognised fire-performance characteristics.

Application Instructions

1. Prepare the Surface

Ensure all surfaces are clean and free from dust, rust, grease and other contaminants that could affect adhesion.

2. Prepare the Cartridge

Cut the cartridge tip, attach the application nozzle and trim the nozzle to produce the required bead size.

3. Apply the Sealant

Using a suitable cartridge gun, apply the sealant evenly to the joint. Aim for a joint thickness of approximately 2–3mm.

4. Allow to Set

The sealant will initially set at room temperature. Ensure it has been allowed to set appropriately before beginning the heat-curing process.

5. Gradually Apply Heat

Curing can be accelerated by gradually applying heat for approximately four hours. Avoid exposing the sealant to excessive temperature too quickly and follow the manufacturer's curing instructions.

6. Finish the Surface

Once completely cured, the sealant can be sanded and over-painted where required to achieve the desired finished appearance.
